Super dodgeball beats is a rhythm dodgeball game. Your mission is to take your team of 4 students and rise through the ranks and win the championship. By playing dodgeball against some strange opponents with power ups.

Gameplay

Your team is in the same positions as the buttons on a controller. You will press the corresponding button when the marker is under that character. Sometimes you will have to press or hold the button. You may also need to move the left stick in a specific direction.

The bar on top shows who is winning. The more mistakes you make, the more the bar moves to your opponent’s side. The more you get right, the more the bar moves to your side.

The game also has power ups that charge as you play and can be used by pressing the assigned button. They charge up a lot during the match so don’t be afraid to use them. The power up you get is completely random. Some of the power ups are.

Mega Head – summons a giant head. It bounces around the opponents’ side of the field. This makes it hard for them to see when to press the buttons.

Donut – Places a large donut under the characters’ feet. It makes it impossible to see the marker’s alignment.

Petrified – Turns characters to stone and only a perfect note will break the stone. Soon/late will count as missed beats while turned to stone.

Mime – creates a copy of the power up your opponent is currently using on you.

The game has mascots that let you get certain power up more often.

Gateke – Lets you get Mega Head, Donut and Reset more often.

Perorin – Lets you get Petrified, Energy Drain and Heal more often.

Koarin – lets you get Bomb, Mime and Racoon more often.

The Teams

The teams are one of the best things from this game there are some crazy teams like a giant samurai.

or a man in a gold Godzilla suit.

Then there is a team of lucky cats.

Lets not forget the team of elderly.

Or my favorite for… reasons

there are others but I’ll let you discover them as you play.

Game Modes

The two game modes are.

Multiplayer – It’s only local so grab your friends and have some fun.

Championship Mode – This is the story mode. You will take your team of four students through the ranks. In order to win the championship.
There is three leagues to play through. Rookie, Pro and Legend each getting more challenging than the last.

Should You Play?

If you really love rhythm games than you will have fun with this game. For everyone else I would wait for a sale. The day I am writing this the game was 90% off on steam making it only $1.29. For that price this game is worth playing.
One other thing to consider is having a group of people to play with locally. It could be a lot of fun with some good laughs.
One of my complaints for this game is the gameplay loop does get very repetitive.
But the music is very good and the art design for this game is amazing.
