Story

The story of Resident Evil Survival Unit takes place during re2 and re3.  You make your way to a mansion filled with mystery. In this place, you must gather survivors. Your goal is to solve the mansion’s mystery.  All while seeing familiar faces in the resident evil universe.

The story is ok its not anything your going to get drawn into. I will give it 5 out of 10.

Rating: 5 out of 10.
  • Claire Redfield, in a red leather jacket, talking in a cutscene from a Resident Evil game, with a man standing to her left in a jacket, with the text "Claire Redfield: No worries, I'm Claire Redfield. Getting out of here is the priority. What about you?" overlayed.
  • A CGI zombie's head in profile, against a black background. The zombie has pale skin, bloodstains, a snarling mouth showing teeth, and dark hair. The image has a "Skip" button in the top right.
  • A post-apocalyptic scene showing a city street with an ambulance, police car, and several people, including a man standing and two running away from a zombie kneeling on the pavement. The street is stained with blood.
  • A woman in a gray trench coat stands on a rooftop overlooking a burning city at night, holding a radio; text on the screen indicates she is receiving a message about getting the "G - virus".

Gameplay

There are so many different games in this game.  You get to control characters like your playing a traditional resident evil game solving puzzle and killing zombies.

Than you have this stand your ground and kill waves of enemies.  Where your survivors attack automatically and you can choose when to use skills or have that be auto as well.

There is also the strategy part of this game. You train units and travel in real time. Players fight zombies or BOWs and loot farms and other places for resources.

You will spend a significant part of your time in this game upgrading buildings. You have access to a considerable number of them.  Just to name a few, there are three buildings to train units. There are three buildings for resources. There is a wall to upgrade and a few more.  All these upgrades take real time and can take hours to finish.

Then there is the gatcha part of this game where you fire a signal flare to get more survivors.  As of writing this the gatcha seams way more forgiving of a gatcha than other games are.

This is the best part of the game. There is plenty to do. Since the game takes real time, it will take a while to get through it. I will give it a solid 8 out of 10.

Rating: 8 out of 10.
  • A scene from a survival horror game with a male character in a dimly lit hospital hallway. He stands near the exit, indicated by a green illuminated arrow, the game interface showing a health meter and the objective, "Find the exit".
  • Promotional image for the mobile game, Resident Evil: showcasing two recruitment options. Advanced Recruitment on the left, displaying characters, includes a "Free Recruit" button and indicates 5 daily recruitments remaining. Epic Recruitment is on the right, featuring other characters, with a "Free Recruit" button and 1 daily recruitment remaining, plus a bonus offer.
  • Mobile game interface showing an "Epic" level character portrait on the left, a giant spider in the center, and reward options for a "Fuel Procurement" challenge, including diamonds, experience points, and resources; a "Challenge" button is highlighted at the bottom right.
  • A woman holding a large futuristic energy weapon fires a blue beam at a large, gnarled, shadowy creature in a forest setting; the creature is surrounded by zombies; a speech bubble above the creature reads "It's hard to keep this up...!"; the scene is dark with blue glowing light effects.

Graphics

The graphics of this game are similar to the RE2 and RE3 remakes.  The characters you see look like they do in the remakes.

All the models look great as well as the backgrounds. There is nothing else to say the game looks good.

I will give the graphics a perfect 10 out of 10.

Rating: 10 out of 10.

Should You Play?

If you are looking for a traditional Resident Evil experience, than NO don’t play this. If you are open to a new type of Resident Evil experience, then YES give this game a try.

This game has plenty to do. You will have to solve puzzles, train units and survivors. Then there is the upgrading buildings that takes some time.

I did enjoy the moving around and solving the puzzles like a traditional Resident Evil game. The combat is also great. Seeing different characters from the RE games that you never get to control fight zombies is fun.

So, the math gives this game a 7.6 repeating. So, I will round down to 7.5 out of 10.

Rating: 7.5 out of 10.
