Mika and the Witch’s Mountain is an adventure game with cute graphics with a lighthearted story. let’s find out if this cute game about helping out everyone is worth playing.

In this cute fantasy adventure game, you play as Mika who wants to go to witch school. When she asked the teacher if she can go to the school, the teacher gives her a test. Mika must make it back up the mountain. Then the teacher pushes Mika off said mountain. When Mika arrives at the bottom of the mountain, she finds a nice village. She meets a new friend who will help Mika fix her broom. It broke from the fall. But Mika is broke so she must get a job delivering packages.
That is what you will be doing most in this game flying around on your broom and delivering packages. There are packages you must deliver to advance the story and there are some packages that are optional.
The packages will have a demand on them like a time limit where you must deliver it in time. Some are fragile where they can only take so many hits before it gets broken. There are some that can’t get wet so stay out of the water.
After you delivered all the story packages, you can advance to the next day. Go to Mika’s new friend or roommate, who also builds you new brooms. These new brooms lets you navigate the island easier and lets you hold more packages.
There are plenty of interesting and unique characters for you to meet and get to know. You will end up delivering stuff for them and to them as they share their story. Some characters move location as the story progresses to give even more to their story. There are even character from other Chibig games for you to meet.
On the island, you will find Napopo Statues. These are collectibles that you can use to get new outfits for Mika. You can also obtain broom charms with them. There are 100 of them in total.
Fishing that’s right this game has fishing. This was my favorite part of this game. You grab a fishbowl and scoop up the fish. There is an older man who used to be a fisherman. He has an aquarium next to him. You can put the fish there and even find decorations for the tank. There is a special cutscene if you get all the fish.
There are also races you can take part in. These are checkpoint style races against the clock. The final broom is the fastest broom. You might want to wait to get it before you become the race queen.
The art style in this game is fantastic and perfect for this style of game. The cutscenes are beautifully animated. There are also a bunch of wildlife to see including dogs that you can pet for an achievement/trophy. As well as an achievement/trophy that has a final fantasy reference in it witch I can really appreciate.
Should You Play?
While there is no combat I did find this game very enjoyable. At first, flying on the broom was not great. It was good but not great. It got better as you got new brooms. I found my self just having fun flying around the island collecting and seeing the sights.
I loved fishing and would drop everything when I found a new fish. You should 100% the fishing quest its great.
The game does not take long to beat. However, going after all packages will add to the hours of playtime. Collecting the napopo statues will increase playtime as well. Seeing characters from other Chibig games makes me want to play the other games. Keep your eyes out for them in the future.
Overall I would say YES this game is worth playing. The game at full price is only $20. I bought the bundle on steam that came with all the Chibig games for about $20 on sale. I would highly recommend buying the bundle.
